On December 30, 1986
midway through their first season back in the Western Hockey
League, the Swift Current Broncos were involved in a tragic
accident. While on the way to Regina to play the Pats, the
Broncos team bus slid off the highway and rolled. Four members
of the team passed away as a result.
To
ensure that the memories of these four players are
never forgotten, the Swift Current Broncos retired
their numbers and designed a patch, which every Bronco
player will always wear on the shoulder of their
jersey. The patch incorporates the four numbers in a
four-leaf clover design.
