Rink Rat Reflects On Recent Struggles26-Oct-12
While wandering around the hall of the iPlex, the Rat gets some time to think and to reflect about his beloved team, the Broncos.
Things have been very busy at home for the Broncos and they have played the majority of their games on home ice. They have struggled a bit and when you struggle especially at home you can tend to put a lot of pressure on yourself and do too much by yourself.
Is this good or bad? Sometimes a few days on the road with your team mates is a good thing. You get to know the guys a lot better when you spend every waking moment with them. You are a team and when you are away from home, you only have each other to lean on. When you start to work together, you find that the load is a whole lot lighter.
Sometimes the Rat also thinks that there is a downer time that all teams go through and it can happen at anytime during the year and the guys have to work through such things as: I miss my friends back home, I am a million miles from home, I need to get my school work done, The coach wants me to play harder, how come my good hit got me a penalty, why am I not scoring and so on.
We have to remember that these young men are just that, young men and like most of us they encounter bumps along the road, not only in the game of hockey but the game of life as well. Being on the road can give you that opportunity to speak to others on your team, support your team mates and not worry about the pressures back home. You can help each other out and before you know it you forget about your troubles and pressures and you start playing better.
Yes, the Rat knows that the Broncos are struggling just a bit and that is why we must support them through good and bad times. They need encouragement and support. When the guys get back to the iPlex next Friday, let’s pack the rink and show the guys we are there to cheer them on!
The Rat is positive that if the fans are positive, the Broncos will be positive and they will get back to their positive ways and entertain us in a positive way.
Have a great time and we will see you at the rink!
