Broncos Take Shootout Win At Brandt CentreMar 15, 2013 - 16:00 CST
The Swift Current Broncos earned an important two points in Regina as they defeated the Pats 3-2 in a shootout.
An interference call to defenceman Brycen Martin minutes into play would send the Pats onto the man advantage, where Marc McCoy would capitalize to open the scoring and give Regina an early lead. Lane Scheidl would follow suit for the Pats roughly 10 minutes later tallying a power play marker of his own and extending their lead to two.
The Pats would hold onto their two-goal lead until late into the second period when Broncos captain Adam Lowry would record his 45th of the season to put Swift Current on the board and make it 2-1 after 40 minutes.
Richard Nedomlel would notch the equalizer under three minutes into the third period on his seventh of the year to lock the game up at two. But, neither team would net the game-winner in regulation as they headed to overtime.
The Broncos took the edge in shots in the additional frame at 3-2, but both netminders would deny all scoring chances. With nothing solved the shootout would commence.
The shootout would go five rounds until Coda Gordon would seal the deal, slipping one past Matt Hewitt resulting in a 3-2 final.
The Broncos outshot the Pats 33-20, but went 0 for 4 on the man advantage.
Adam Lowry (4G,1A) is currently on a four-game point streak.
Dakota Odgers made his first appearance in the Bronco lineup since October 13th, 2012.
