Broncos Suffer Tough Loss to HurricanesJan 01, 2013 - 13:30 CST
Four third period goals from the Lethbridge Hurricanes would result in a sudden 6-4 loss for the Swift Current Broncos in front of a crowd of 2,142 New Year's Day.
Ryon Moser would capitalize on the Broncos first power play of the afternoon to open the scoring eight minutes into play. Coda Gordon would follow suit for Swift Current recording his 13th of the season and making it 2-0 Broncos after 20 minutes.
Brady Ramsay would put Lethbridge on the board under two minutes into the second period with a power play marker. But, Calgary Flames prospect Gordon would restore the Broncos two goal lead notching his second of the evening by the midway mark of the frame.
In the third period, Remi Laurencelle would shoot one past Landon Bow minutes in. But, Broncos captain Adam Lowry would retaliate with his 25th of the year to put Swift Current up by two once again. Tyler Wong and Sam McKechnie would add singles under a minute apart soon after to lock the game up at four. Minutes later, Justin Spagrud would be called for high sticking forcing the Broncos onto the penalty kill where 'Canes Daniel Johnston would capitalize giving Lethbridge their first lead of the game. Trailing 5-4, the Broncos would pull netminder Bow for the extra attacker in hopes of finding the equalizer, but 'Canes captain Graham Hood would tally the empty netter to seal the deal resulting in a 6-4 final.
Shots were even at 36. The Broncos went 1 for 4 on the man advantage.
