Broncos Snap Losing Skid; Defeat Ice 5-226-Oct-12
The Swift Current Broncos snapped their three game losing skid defeating the Kootenay Ice 5-2 at the Western Financial Place Friday night.
Jon Martin would open the scoring for Kootenay minutes into play giving them an early lead. But, Levi Bews would retaliate shortly after on his sixth of the season to lock the game up at one. Chance Lund would follow suit for Swift Current minutes later giving the Broncos their first lead of the night. Reece Scarlett would wrap up the first period scoring midway through the frame capitalizing on the Broncos first power play of the evening to extend their lead to two.
Just over three minutes into the second period, defenceman Dillon Heatherington would net his second of the season to make it a 4-1 contest. But, Kootenay's Levi Cable would put the Ice within two on their fifth man advantage of the evening.
In the third period, Colby Cave would tally a power play marker under two minutes in to revive the Broncos three goal lead. Neither team would add to the scoresheet from that point on as the Broncos would take a 5-2 victory over the Ice.
The Broncos were outshot 41-25 and went 2 for 3 on the man advantage.
