Broncos Nab OT Win in Maple Creek
8-Sep-12The Swift Current Broncos took a 2-1 OT win over the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors in front of an electric crowd at the Maple Creek Arena Friday night.
Play would remain scoreless until the 15 minute mark of the first, when Graham Black would capitalize on a power play opportunity opening the scoring and giving the Broncos a 1-0 lead. No more than 10 seconds later, Warriors' Josh Uhrich would retaliate locking the game up at one.
The contest would remain 1-1 for the duration of regulation time, as both Bronco netminder Eetu Laurikainen and Warriors' Justin Paulic would deny all scoring chances resulting in five minutes of 4-on-4 overtime action.
Both teams would continue to struggle scoring the crucial game winning goal, but with 30 seconds to spare, Bronco defenceman Richard Nedomlel would light the lamp following through off of a feed from Colby Cave and Coda Gordon to make it a 2-1 final.
The Broncos went 1 for 5 on the man advantage, while the Warriors went 0 for 3.
