Broncos Fall to Winterhawks13-Oct-12
The Swift Current Broncos fell 6-3 to the visiting Portland Winterhawks in front of a crowd of 2,368 Saturday night.
Bronco Captain Adam Lowry opened the scoring for the Broncos early into the opening frame on the man advantage. But, eight minutes into the period Portland's Oliver Bjorkstrand would retaliate locking the contest up at one. The Winterhawks would tally back-to-back power play markers soon after to give Portland a 3-1 lead heading into the second frame.
In the middle frame, Lowry would come back for more tallying his second of the evening to put the contest within one. But, the Winterhawks would strike back once again to revive their two-goal lead thanks to Rattie's second of the evening.
Roughly four minutes into the third period, Coda Gordon would follow through off of a beautiful feed from Lowry to make it a 4-3 game. But, back-to-back singles from Winterhawks' alternate captain Rattie would not only give him four goals on the evening, but result in a 6-3 final.
The Broncos were outshot 33-31 and went 1 for 4 on the power play.
