Broncos Fall to Wheat Kings
10-Feb-12The Swift Current Broncos would fall 6-3 to the Brandon Wheat Kings at Westman Place Friday night.
The Wheat Kings would get on the board near the midway mark of the first frame thanks to a power play marker by Swiss-import Alessio Bertaggia. Shortly after Darian Dziurzynski would follow suit and up Brandon's lead to two. Near the end of the opening period, captain Taylor Vause would cut into the Wheat Kings' 2-0 lead with his 30th of the season on the man advantage.
The second period would see only one goal by Brandon's Kevin Sundher halfway through to make it a 3-1 contest after 40 minutes.
Michael Ferland would up the Wheat Kings lead to three three minutes into the frame, but defenceman Dillon Heatherington would retaliate minutes later recording his first goal of his WHL career and whittling the gap back down to two. Back-to-back singles by Ryan Pulock and Bertaggia (second of the evening) would give the Wheat Kings a strong four goal lead. But, Richard Nedomlel would wrap up the scoring on the power play with his seventh of the season to make it a 6-3 final.
The Broncos were outshot 41-31 and went 2/3 on the man advantage.
