Broncos Fall to Hitmen

The Swift Current Broncos took a 5-1 loss to the Calgary Hitmen tonight at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Hitmen would get onto a strong start thanks to special teams as both Alex Gogolev and Brady Brassart would add consecutive power play markers early into the contest.  Brooks Macek would follow suit for the Hitmen adding an even strength single shortly after and giving Calgary a 3-0 lead.  But Ryon Moser would wrap up the scoring for the first frame as he would put the Broncos on the board with his fourth of the season with helpers from Brad Hoban and Dalton Reum.

The middle frame would remain scoreless until the 15 minute mark, when Brassart would light the lamp again and restore the Hitmen’s three goal lead.

In the third period the Broncos would outshoot the Hitmen 10-7, but wouldn’t be able to find the back of the net as Hitmen’s Gogolev would seal the deal by the midway mark of the period adding his second of the evening and making it a 5-1 final.

The Broncos outshot the Hitmen 29-27, but were 0 for 5 on the man advantage.

UP NEXT:  The Broncos welcome the Calgary Hitmen to the Credit Union iPlex on Tuesday, October 18th which will also mark the first TWO TWO TWOsday of the season ($2 walk-up tickets, $2 hamburgers, $2 drinks)!  Then, the Broncos head to Prince Albert, SK to take on the Raiders on Friday, October 21st.
