Broncos Couldn’t Beat Pats; Fall 4-1

The Swift Current Broncos ‘wow’ed the crowd in breathtaking special Memorial Jerseys to honour the four Broncos who lost their lives in the 1986 bus crash, but weren’t able to defeat their East Divison rivals the Regina Pats as they fell 4-1 Saturday night at the Credit Union iPlex.

Pat’s Martin Marincin would open the scoring late into the first as he would capitalize on their first power play of the evening.

The Broncos would trail 1-0 until midway through the second frame when Taylor Vause would retaliate with a power play marker of his own and his 31st of the season to lock the game up at one.

But, back-to-back singles on the man advantage less than three minutes into the third period by Lane Scheidl would give Regina a quick two goal lead.  The scoring would halt from that point on until the dying minutes of play when Lyndon Martell would record his fifth of the season and make it a 4-1 final.

The Broncos were outshot 35-18 and went 1/5 on the man advantage.

UP NEXT: The Broncos travel to Prince Albert, SK to take on the Raiders on Wednesday.  Then, they head to Saskatoon, SK to battle the Blades on Friday.

BRONCO BANTER:

Taylor Vause (3G,3A) and Reece Scarlett (4A) are on four-game point streaks.

Josh Derko (6’2″,192lbs) and Luke Fenske (6’1″,209lbs) got involved in a quick scrap.  This would mark Derko’s ninth of the season.
