Broncos Blank Raiders

A 35-save shutout by Eetu Laurikainen led the Swift Current Broncos to a 3-0 victory over the visiting Prince Albert Raiders Saturday night on “Retro Jersey Night”.

Broncos captain Adam Lowry would open the scoring on his 34th of the season around the midway mark of the opening frame.  Minutes later, defenceman Brett Lernout would extend Swift Current’s lead to two, tallying his first goal of his WHL career.

The Broncos would hold onto their 2-0 lead until the dying minutes of the third period when Chance Lund would seal the deal on his 12th of the year to make it a 3-0 final.

The Broncos outshot the Raiders 41-35, but went 0 for 3 on the man advantage.

UP NEXT:  The Broncos welcome the Edmonton Oil Kings on Sunday, February 10th.  Then, the Broncos visit the Saskatoon Blades at the Credit Union Centre on Tuesday, February 12th.

BRONCO BANTER:

With the assist, Coda Gordon reached the 100 point mark of his WHL career.

Eetu Laurikainen made 35 saves for the shutout, his first of his WHL career.

Brett Lernout recorded his first goal of his WHL career.

Adam Lowry (1G,1A) had two points.

The contest saw one fight between Tanner LeSann and Evan Morden around the midway mark of the second period.
