Broncos Beat Raiders in OT

The Swift Current Broncos would snap their five-game losing skid defeating the Prince Albert Raiders 4-3 in overtime at the Art Hauser Centre Wednesday night.

The scoring wouldn't start until midway through the second frame when Justin Maylan would capitalize on the Raiders third power play of the evening and give Prince Albert a 1-0 lead.  In the dying seconds of the middle frame rookie Coda Gordon would tie the game up at one with his 22nd of the season heading into the third period.

Minutes into the frame Gordon would come back with his second of the evening, this time on the man advantage, to give the Broncos their first lead of the night at a crucial point of the contest.  Adam Rossignol would make it a two-goal game scoring his first as a Bronco and seventh of the season shortly after.  But, back-to-back singles from Mike Winther and Jesse Knowler would lock the game up at three sending the contest to overtime.

Captain Taylor Vause would silence the fans at the Art Hauser Centre as he sealed the deal seconds into the additional frame with his 32nd of the season making it a 4-3 final.

The Broncos were outshot 44-30 and went 1/2 on the man advantage.

UP NEXT:  The Broncos will play a home-and-home series with the Saskatoon Blades kicking it off at the Credit Union Centre on Friday, then returning to the iPlex on Saturday.

BRONCO BANTER:

Coda Gordon (2G) recorded his 12th multi-point game of the season.  He is also only six points away from 50.

Taylor Vause (1G,1A) recorded his 21st multi-point game of the season and upped his point streak to five games.

Andy Blanke (6'2",197lbs) dropped the mitts with fellow heavyweight (insert name).  This would mark Blanke's 19th fight of the season.

Reece Scarlett (5A) is on a five-game point streak.

Richard Nedomlel (1G,3A) is on a three-game point streak.
