Rink Rat Report
Rink Rat’s Ramblin
Opinions by George Bowditch
Life besides the Broncos has been very busy for the Rat but he has never lost the chance to cheer on the team. While he hasn’t had the time to write, it has not stopped him from forming his opinions on what is going on at the iPlex.
As I have alluded to before, the quiet state of our rink is very disappointing. People used to come to the rink and cheer on their team. Now it seems like the team has to score a goal before noise is allowed.
Why this has happened? I do not know for sure but I have heard complaints over the years about horns and noise makers being banned because they are hard on peoples’ ears. “Too loud for my ears and if you don’t make them stop I am going to cancel my season ticket.”
Well, I have been doing some watching and listening and I see a problem why some of these people complain about the noise. It is because some people are blowing their bugles and using their air horns in a careless manner.
Point them up and away from the people that are sitting next to you. The noise will still be heard by the players if you point them towards the ceiling. This is just common sense in my mind but I see people doing it wrong and that is why horns and bugles and mega phones are banned from the rink. Respect your neighbours and enjoy making noise for your team.
Cheering by ways such as joining in a rousing chant like ‘Go Broncos Go’ and clapping in rhythm will make lots of noise as well and this will help to inspire the guys on to bigger and better things. The players love to hear their fans and they draw extra energy from it.
So let’s go Bronco fans! Let’s cheer our guys on and encourage them. They need all the support they can draw upon. Help cheer them on to the playoffs and show them that if they can get through the first round of playoffs, that there will be a rousing enthusiastic home crowd to play in front of. Remember, this is our team and our team needs our support.
See you at the rink and ‘Go Broncos Go’
